KWS Hard Iron Hanger Bearings
KWS hard iron hanger bearings are made of Class 30 gray iron. Liquid metal is poured into molds and then allowed to cool and solidify. KWS stocks both style 216 and 226 hard iron hanger bearings. After heat treating, KWS hard iron bearings have a minimum hardness of 45-Rc.
Hard iron bearings can withstand harsh applications and are used in a variety of industries, including sand, limestone, cement, and salt. Where other bearing materials might quickly deteriorate, hard iron bearings are well-suited for conveying abrasive bulk materials.
Features
Wear Resistance – Designed for high-load and heavy-duty applications
Wide Temperature Range – Operating temperatures ranging from -32 to +500-degrees F
External Lubrication – External lubrication pipe with fittings is available
Benefits
Extended Lifespan – Last significantly longer than bearings made from softer materials such as wood, bronze, or polymer-based hanger bearings
Variety of Applications – Used for conveying a wide variety of bulk materials such as sand, limestone, cement, and salt
Reduced Maintenance Costs – Long run time reduces maintenance and improves equipment uptime
Hard iron bearings are ideal for screw conveyor applications involving heavy loads and speeds up to 75-rpm. Moderate to extremely abrasive bulk materials with bulk densities up to 120-lbs. per cubic foot are ideal for hard iron hanger bearings. A hardened coupling shaft is required when using a hard iron hanger bearing. Please refer to the KWS Screw Conveyor Engineering Guide for more information.
