KWS Saves Plastic Bottle Recycling Plant Over $3,000,000 in Potential Lost Production
Challenge
Over 3 billion pounds of plastic bottles are collected every year in the US. About 30-percent are recycled into other products. Most plastic bottles are made from Polyethylene terephthalate (PET). CarbonLITE Recycling is the largest producer of recycled PET in the world and processes over 7 billion plastic bottles every year.
Screw conveyors are used throughout the recycling process and several screw conveyors were needed for a new plant in Texas that was starting production in less than a month. Immediate delivery was needed to keep the project on track.
KWS Advantage
KWS has provided bulk material handling equipment on many projects in the recycling industry. The recycling plant was a key customer for KWS and KWS engineers were intimately involved in all phases of the operation. KWS designed, manufactured and delivered 5 very special screw conveyors in 13 working days to meet the demands of the plant and saving potentially 14 days of lost production. The new KWS screw conveyors were immediately installed and operating within 2 days with no issues. CarbonLITE Recycling was extremely satisfied with the quality, service and response of KWS.
Cost Savings Calculation – Potential Lost Production
$10,000.00 per hour X 336 hours = $3,360,000.00
