Special Hip Roof Covers for Heat Dissipation
International Ingredient Corporation (IIC) is a family-owned business which manufacturers and supplies specialty ingredients to the animal and pet food industries. IIC has a total of ten plant locations in the United States, including drying plants and blending facilities. Screw conveyors are a primary means of material transport within the plants and their unique blending processes.
Challenge
IIC needed to dissipate heat from screw conveyors to protect downstream equipment from premature failure. Also, food grade requirements meant no possibility of contaminants could be introduced into the product. Careful consideration of all safety factors was a requirement.
KWS Advantage
KWS designed and manufactured a unique hip roof cover for heat dissipation. The new hip roof design incorporated a raised feature with a special stainless steel expanded metal opening and flanged sides extending down past the trough lip. The innovative design ensures all safety procedures and best practices are followed while allowing heat to dissipate via the expanded metal sections. Precisely calculated contact time with the product in the screw conveyor combined with dissipation of heat allows for perfect results. Safety, forward thinking, and precise calculations produced a highly engineered result for the customer.
